“At the beginning of each client engagement, I strive to gain an in-depth understanding of the client’s business. This helps me provide solutions and advice that are ideal for their unique needs and optimal success.”

Tony joined Swart, Lalande & Associates, P.C. (SLA) in 1997 and currently serves as a senior manager in the firm’s Construction and Real Estate Industry Services groups. He primarily works with clients in the construction, real estate and government contracting industries and offers assistance with a wide array of services, including: audits, reviews and compilations; agreed upon procedures, corporate tax returns; software system requirements definition; managerial reporting; and best practices.

Tony works closely with clients to grow their businesses through his strategic planning and management consulting expertise. Further, he assesses clients’ business needs and helps develop specific plans to achieve both their short and long-term goals. Tony enjoys working with businesses that see the value of having a solid operational and financial infrastructure. He takes pride in assisting operational and financial management with the development of common goal measurements and reporting. Tony also appreciates those which are committed to assembling the right managerial teams, both internally and externally, to help drive their long-term success.

With more than 20 years of accounting experience, Tony has proven to be a trusted advisor and business partner for his clients. Through his consultation, he helped a client change its estimating processes and, in turn, reversed a projected $400,000 loss into a $600,000 profit in less than one operating cycle. In another example, Tony worked with a company to determine its true core business and divisional results. This analysis revealed that one division was posting substantial losses on an annual basis. As a result, the company closed the division at minimal cost, improving overall corporate performance.

On a regular basis, Tony shares his expertise with more than just his clients. More specifically, he often serves as a guest speaker for local chambers of commerce and industry associations regarding various accounting issues and best practices. Additionally, Tony serves as the Chair of SLA’s internal training committee and provides continuing professional education to the firm’s staff.

Tony has always viewed the accounting profession as the gateway to business, a perspective which inspired him to pursue a career in the industry. He particularly enjoys the connection between financial information and the associated meetings with operational management. This allows Tony to see the entire business, including strategic planning, marketing, finance and management, rather than just the numbers. Today he attributes his professional success to his breadth of experience in several industries, in both the public and private sectors.
