Baard joined Swart, Lalande & Associates, P.C. (SLA) in 2004. He currently serves as a manager in the firm’s Construction Industry Services Division, where he specializes in providing a wide array of accounting and taxation services to his clients. Baard’s client base comprises construction trade subcontractors in the Washington, D.C. metro with $8 million to $30 million in annual revenue.
Baard began his accounting career in 2001, working for one year at Arthur Andersen LLP. More recently, prior to joining SLA, he worked for two years at “Big Four” accounting firm, Ernst & Young. Baard served in the audit department for each of his previous two firms.
Baard’s interest in an accounting career stems from his grandfather, who was also an accountant. Today he credits his professional success to his willingness to help his clients reach their goals.
Baard grew up in Harrisonburg, Virginia and currently resides in Fairfax. He and his wife, Loriann, have two children. In his free time, Baard enjoys exercising and studying economics.
