Rob joined Swart, Lalande & Associates, P.C. (SLA) in 1994. In his role as shareholder, he performs expert accounting, audit, tax and business advisory services for closely-held businesses and their owners. Rob maintains a strong focus on the government contracting and construction industries and serves as the firm’s engagement shareholder in charge of services for government contractors. He also provides income tax preparation and planning services for individuals.
Prior to joining SLA, Rob worked for over seven years at Kearney & Company, a CPA and consulting firm based in Alexandria, Virginia. Additionally, he previously worked at Laventhol & Horwath for over three years and began his career in 1981 at Lang & Associates.
With nearly 30 years of professional experience, Rob has developed the necessary experience and acumen to assist his clients with even the most complex accounting and consulting related issues. In one instance, he helped a closely-held construction business and its owners transfer ownership to a group of key employees. More specifically, Rob helped structure the transaction and make a smooth transition to the new ownership.
Rob decided to pursue an accounting career after recognizing his aptitude for the field. He also felt the profession offered an excellent opportunity for career advancement and professional growth. Today Rob attributes his success to the personal, responsive and attentive service he provides to his clients.
Born in Minnesota, Rob has lived in several states across the country, including Iowa, Illinois and Connecticut. He attended high school in Maryland and currently resides in Clifton, Virginia. Rob and his wife, Kathi, have two children. Outside the office, he is an avid baseball fan.
