Shannon joined Swart, Lalande & Associates, P.C. (SLA) in 2007 and specializes in providing expert tax and internal accounting services for general small businesses, including government contractors, real estate developers and professional services industries, at both the business and owner levels. She also holds the QuickBooks ProAdvisor certification.
For five years prior to joining the firm, Shannon gained invaluable experience in the public accounting field. In particular, she performed audit fieldwork and tax preparation for individuals and businesses. Shannon began her career in 2002.
Through her experience and continually expanding expertise, Shannon has been instrumental in her clients’ growth and success. In one instance, she worked closely with an entrepreneur on their internal accounting and taxation needs, helping them expand from a single person, home office based operation into an international retailer whom recently opened their first retail storefront. Additionally, Shannon has shared her extensive knowledge by presenting on “Business Tax Tips and Strategies” for the Network of Entrepreneurial Women.
Shannon was inspired to go into accounting because of the opportunity to work with a variety of business types throughout the community. She was intrigued by what made a business successful, from the inside out. Shannon felt that working with client accounts would provide insight into their worlds, while helping them realize their financial goals. Today Shannon credits her professional success to her ability to work well with clients from a variety of industries and her drive to fulfill client expectations.
Shannon was born and raised in Fairfax, where she still resides today. In her free time, she enjoys bicycling and spending time with her dog.
